The primary focus for Williamstown Swimming and Life Saving Club is to provide a safe and enjoyable beach experience for everyone. This is achieved by providing volunteer beach patrols on  weekends and public holidays during the patrol season.

Our patrol teams are there to help and are staffed by highly trained volunteers. Each patroller must undertake a Certificate II in Public Safety (Aquatic Rescue) or Surf Rescue Certificate (Junior Lifesaver) before being allowed to put on a red and yellow cap.

The patrol teams are comprised of as a minimum;

  • Patrol Captain
  • Vice Captain
  • IRB (Inflatable Rescue Boat) Crew and Driver
  • Advanced Resuscitation Certificate and Defibrillation Award or Advanced Resuscitation Techniques
  • Basic Beach Management
  • Spinal Management

Most patrol teams also have a number of other qualifications within their ranks including;

  • Radio Operator
  • Senior First Aid
