2012/2013 SEASON IS FAST APPROACHING........
Welcome to the 2012/2013 competition season of the Williamstown Swimming and Life Saving Club. If you are interested in competing in any form of lifesaving this year please get in touch with either myself or directly to one of our area coaches so we can include you in all our plans (please see the page on this website for each competition area for contact details). The more the merrier!
My aim as the competition director is to build Williamstown into a well-balanced competition club, from nippers through to masters. The 2012 World Lifesaving Championships are in Adelaide and I want to take as many competitors as possible.
Training has begun in some areas of competition (surfboat, board/ski and R & R) so its time to start thinking about what you want to achieve this season and start working towards that goal. We are still running out general fitness program at WSLSC (open to all club members) on the following days:
TUESDAY - 6am - 7am
THURSDAY - 6am - 7am
ALL CLUB MEMBERS WELCOME! We will be introducing more sessions, including afternoon sessions soon. Please keep an eye out for details on the website and Facebook page.
RECRUITING....RECRUITING...RECRUITING....
We are always looking in increase the number of athletes in all areas of competition. We are currently actively seeking people to join our surf boat, R & R and board/ski team who have already commenced training! We have expert coaches in these areas and WANT YOU!
This season, the Senior Victorian Championships will be held at Anglesea. The Victorian Masters Championships will be held at Lorne. The Australian Championships will be held at Tugun (surf boats) and North Kirra (all other sports), QLD.
We’ve built a coaching group of experienced coaches with a wealth of knowledge and enthusiasm. They are:
Tim Elmore- Tim is an R&R guru with many medals and pennants earned with his team of dedicated competitors. If you don’t know what R&R is read the description under ‘Lifesaving’.
Rod Kelly- Rod has been coaching our beach team for a few years now and continues to try and get the best from our athletes.
Matt Kendall- Matt is committed to board and ski coaching, having been involved for many years. He is working hard at building our team and their success.
Scott Ivey- Needs no introduction. As the 2010 coach of the year (IRB), his leadership and knowledge is beneficial.
Marcus Stacey - Surfboat sweep that has many years of experience, with national and Australian medals in many areas of lifesaving competition.
Scott Post - After being involved for a few years now, Scott received his surfboat sweep qualification last season and is extremely dedicated to building a strong surfboat team.
Cheers,
Marcus Stacey
